A Company Six Years In The Making

Six years ago, Doug Beplate witnessed a terrible single-car accident and the driver needed CPR. The man died even though the highway patrolman on the scene was trained in CPR. The patrolman refused to perform CPR for fear of contracting a disease. Unfortunately with CPR, the person trying to save a life is putting their own life at great risk.

The year was 1992, and with the growing awareness of AIDS and viral/bacterial transmitted diseases, many more would suffer the same ill fate, unless something was done about it.

By late 1996, development work was complete on the now-patented CPR isolation mask, RespAide. In early 1997, stock was offered and thus was born Emergency Filtration Products Inc. A little more than a year later, the company is about to reap the rewards of their efforts.

The RespAide isolation mask is a high-tech, low-cost solution to eliminating the possibility of contracting a disease while administering mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. RespAide incorporates a patented filtration unit, which acts as a barrier for viral/bacterial pathogens that may be present.

Of the companies selling CPR devices, about six offer products that include bacterial filters, however, RespAide rates superior in both the market and in the prevention of viral contamination. With filtration efficiencies greater than 99.9% and pricing less than its best competition, it's well positioned to be the predominant leader. The RespAide filter configuration, which encompasses a patented 3-M filter, will be at the forefront in addressing filtration as EFP expands.
