Symbol Partners With BPA Systems to Provide Wireless Solutions for Oracle Manufacturing Applications

HOLTSVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 9, 1998--Symbol Technologies Inc. (NYSE:SBL) today announced a value added reseller partnership with BPA Systems, Inc., of Austin, Tex., to provide mobile solutions that allow companies to extend their corporate Oracle-based enterprise applications to the point of activity through integration with Symbol's line of wireless mobile computers.
BPA's enterprise resource planning software (ERP) is integrated with Symbol's hand-held mobile computers and Spectrum24(R) wireless LAN solutions to empower companies to easily extend their Oracle applications to perform real-time, wireless transactions over the corporate Intranet or Internet from any location, including the shop floor, warehouse and even the office.
BPA is a certified software solutions provider for the Oracle Applications Suite. Oracle's Cooperative Applications Initiative, or CAI, provides third-party software providers with technical and marketing services to support the integration of their products with Oracle applications.
By using wireless mobile computers, workers provide information to the corporate enterprise instantly. By spending less time inputting data, overall transaction costs are reduced. BPA's BPoLINK/APPS software running on Symbol mobile computing devices includes integration into Oracle inventory, purchasing, WIP, shipping, receiving, warehouse management and order entry transactions suited for the small handheld and wrist mounted devices.
