Kathy Ireland and USA Network Stars Lead Lycos Chat Schedule

WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 1, 1999--Lycos, Inc. (NASDAQ:LCOS), the second most visited hub on the Internet and owner of the largest Web community, today announced three exclusive online chats, including two promoting upcoming premieres on the USA Network: a USA Sports documentary of the "last great race on Earth" along the Iditarod Trail and a new variety show called "Happy Hour," featuring Dweezil and Ahmet Zappa.

Supermodel and WalkAmerica Chairperson Kathy Ireland
Perhaps most famous as a cover model for Sports Illustrated, Kathy Ireland is truly a woman of accomplishment. She is a wife and mother, fashion designer, corporate executive, humanitarian and health advocate. This year, Ireland was named the national honorary chairperson for the 1999 March of Dimes WalkAmerica. WalkAmerica is the largest, oldest walking event in the country and attracts more than a million participants in 1,400 communities. Also this year, Ireland received the National Association of Women Business Owners award in acknowledgment of her accomplishments in the industry of fashion, health and wellness, videos and her philanthropic efforts. USA Network Iditarod Analyst Susan Butcher
Susan Butcher will be the USA Sports color-commentator for a documentary of the Iditarod Trail sled dog race to be broadcast on April 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Butcher is known as the "Michael Jordan of dog sled racing," having won the Iditarod race four times, including three consecutive record-setting performances in 1986, 1987 and 1988. A native of Cambridge, Mass., Butcher has received various accolades from the Women's Sports Foundation and the French Academy De Sport.

Hosts of "Happy Hour" Dweezil and Ahmet Zappa
Dweezil and Ahmet Zappa, sons of the late Frank Zappa, are co-hosts of the new USA Network variety show, "Happy Hour," which airs Saturdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT and will feature celebrities participating in a series of games and other activities. Formerly, Dweezil and Ahmet hosted MTV Live and appeared as the infamous "Baseball Detectives" for various ESPN guest spots. Dweezil and Ahmet are also musically inclined and are both recording solo albums.
