LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 13, 1999--
Provides Record-Breaking Next-Generation Technology
to Enterprise Network Leader
Trillium Digital Systems Inc., the leading provider of communications software solutions, announced that its recently delivered H.323 protocol software solution for IP Telephony is the industry's performance leader.
With a code size that is as much as five times smaller than existing solutions and performance that allows more than 700 call setups and teardowns per second -- up to 10 times faster than existing solutions -- Trillium's H.323 software solution enables communications equipment suppliers to deliver products that meet the requirements of next-generation networks.
Trillium recently delivered its H.323 software solution to Hypercom Network Systems (NYSE:HYC), a leading supplier of voice/data integration access layer products and carrier-class IP Telephony gateways to carriers and Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
In order to take advantage of the benefits of Trillium's standards-based solution, Hypercom is in the process of integrating Trillium's H.323 software solution into its IP.tel Internet Telephony Gateway, used in carrier-class communications network equipment.
The integration of Trillium's high-performance H.323 software solution into Hypercom's IP gateway equipment illustrates a continuing trend of leading network equipment suppliers to license standards-based communications protocols from Trillium in order to accelerate product cycles and reduce development risks.
"Today's network equipment suppliers require reliability, scaleability and robustness. Our H.323 software solution is specifically designed for forward-looking equipment suppliers who recognize these needs," said Jeff Lawrence, president and CEO of Trillium Digital Systems. "We are very pleased that Hypercom has chosen Trillium to help them meet these needs."
"Hypercom offers the most comprehensive and carrier-focused next-generation IP Telephony gateway solutions available," said Paul Wallner, president of Hypercom Network Systems.
"We look forward to integrating Trillium's H.323 software solution in order to offer our carrier-class customers standards-based interoperation with other gateways or IP Telephony appliances. We selected Trillium because it is the leader in protocol software solutions, and its broad product line and migration strategy will help continue our success in the market."
H.323 is a cornerstone technology that provides the basis for establishing voice and multimedia communications over packet-based networks, such as the Internet. As the Internet and public telephony network converge, a key benefit of Trillium's H.323 software is its capability to interwork with Trillium's SS7, ATM and ISDN protocol stacks.
In addition, Trillium's H.323 software is scaleable and supports distributed system architectures. Trillium's H.323 software offers maximum portability and flexibility based on Trillium's proven TAPA software architecture.
To further assist equipment suppliers, Trillium's Professional Services organization can integrate and customize Trillium's solutions into new products or assist in the migration from other first-generation solutions to Trillium's higher performance and flexible next-generation solutions.
Trillium's H.323 protocol software solution for IP Telephony, consisting of H.225 RAS, H.225 Call Signalling, H.245 Control Signalling, ASN.1 Encoder/Decoder - PER and TCP/UDP Convergence source code software products, is available for order now.
