Phoenix Announces Licensing Agreement with Toshiba
Business Wire, April 13, 1999
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 13, 1999--
Toshiba to Integrate Phoenix's Entire Suite of Semiconductor
IP Cores and Simulation Models into Toshiba's
System-Level Integration Offerings
Phoenix Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq:PTEC) -- the global leader in system-level software and semiconductor intellectual property (IP) cores for computers, system-on-chip, information appliances and other connected information platforms -- today announced that Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC) has signed a licensing agreement.
Under this agreement, TAEC will offer Phoenix's semiconductor IP cores and simulation models as part of TAEC's system-level integration (SLI) development capability. Phoenix's semiconductor IP includes solutions for IEEE 1394, USB, IrDA, PCI and AGP.
"One of TAEC's strengths in SLI design is ensuring fast time-to-market for our customers," stated Peter Richmond, director of SLI business development at TAEC. "Phoenix Technologies' silicon-proven semiconductor IP products will provide our customers with this significant advantage. The robustness, flexibility, and ease of implementation of Phoenix's cores were important considerations in selecting an IP provider."
"Delivering innovative products to market quickly requires companies to partner with industry leaders in areas such as IP, SLI design and high-volume manufacturing," said Laurent Gharda, vice president of marketing, Phoenix. "We are as pleased to augment TAEC's design strengths with our expertise in IP connectivity cores as we are to have TAEC help broaden the reach of Phoenix IP within the industry."
Phoenix's Semiconductor Intellectual Property Cores
Phoenix Technologies, one of the original pioneers of standards-based semiconductor IP, is the leading independent developer of silicon-proven connectivity cores and simulation models. Phoenix's parameterized IP cores are architecture- and technology-independent, providing designers with maximum flexibility while ensuring OS compatibility and easy integration.
Phoenix differentiates its product offering by subjecting its cores to the company's proprietary test methodology, a CPU-intensive verification suite that tests at the system, random and board level using millions of vectors.
These pre-verified cores allow design teams to quickly incorporate standards-based connectivity functions that deliver right-the-first-time performance. Development cost and risk are reduced, design reliability is improved, and more time can be focused on the design's custom logic.
As designers look for solutions that enable complex system-on-chip and embedded system design, pre-verified IP cores provide design teams with a significant time-to-market advantage. Phoenix's semiconductor IP can be found at the core of over 400 innovative, fast-growing applications for the Internet, telecommunications, computer, consumer electronics, industrial, and military/aerospace markets.
