ISLANDIA, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 13, 1999--
Customers Gain Streamlined Deployment Of High-ROI Workflow Solutions
Built Upon Integrated, Best-Of-Class Products
Computer Associates Global Professional Services (GPS) today launched an innovative Enterprise Document Management Solutions (EDMS) practice designed to help customers take full advantage of state-of-the-art tools from the industry's top developers. Through EDMS, CA clients worldwide will be able to implement high return-on-investment document workflow solutions that can dramatically improve productivity, help reduce costs, speed critical business processes, eliminate clerical errors and boost customer satisfaction.
EDMS' unique combination of products and services builds on strategic alliances with leading document management solutions developers --including Highland Software Inc., Datacap Inc., FileNET Corp., INVU PLC, Optus Software and Simplify Development Corp. These vendor alliances allow GPS EDMS to act as a single source for software, hardware and implementation/support services.
"CA is addressing an exciting solutions area with a strong offering in the document management market space that leverages its strengths in both products and services," said Rebecca Z. Segal, director, services industry consulting, International Data Corporation, Inc.
Service will be a key differentiator for EDMS, which will offer 24 X 7 global support of clients' document management systems. This round-the-clock support will take advantage of CA's heralded Unicenter TNG management platform to provide remote monitoring of all network, systems and software components. EDMS will also provide one-stop support for all solution components.
"Corporate decision-makers are looking for simpler, more streamlined ways to implement new technologies that have clear business value, but are often quite complex," said Chris Wagner, GPS executive vice president. "Our EDMS practice not only simplifies integration and implementation of high-end document management solutions, but also gives clients the option to turn over the ongoing management of those solutions to a highly skilled service provider who often can monitor the performance of critical processes more economically than their in-house staff."
GPS created its EDMS practice in response to growing user demand for document management solutions that are sophisticated and flexible enough to meet their individual business needs without costs and risks associated with build-your-own systems. EMDS' turnkey solutions provide technical reliability as well as maximized return on technology investments.
"Document management is a highly specialized discipline, and it simply doesn't make good business sense for our clients to devote a disproportionate amount of their technical resources to the process of evaluating, integrating and maintaining all the components of an enterprise-class solution," said David Craft, GPS practice director, document management. "Because of our tight focus, the GPS' EDMS team can focus on taking clients through that process faster and more economically than they can by themselves."
GPS offers a broad spectrum of IT services in dozens of disciplines including infrastructure management, application development and integration, Y2K compliance services, asset management, deskside support, and end user productivity. Services range from consulting to implementation, to comprehensive outsourcing and facilities management. GPS is headquartered in Islandia, N.Y., and has offices in North and South America, Europe and the Far East.
