IOMEGA UNLEASHES QUIKSYNC SOFTWARE; Web Site Download Featured Today on CNET Premiere Download Site

Business Wire, April 19, 1999

ROY, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 19, 1999--

Iomega Corporation (NYSE:IOM) today announced that QuikSync software, an innovative back-up and revision tracking software solution, is now available as a free download at CNET's premiere Web site www.download.com and on Iomega's website, www.iomega.com, both for a limited time.

Iomega QuikSync software automatically saves designated files to a Zip(R), Jaz(R) or Clik!(TM) disk, providing an effortless way to back-up your files, keeping them safe and protected.

Developed by Iomega, QuikSync software automatically saves your files by detecting the presence of a Zip(R), Jaz or Clik! disk and by automatically saving files from a folder, which you select. QuikSync software also allows for easy version control. A user can save all revisions or simply keep the "latest and greatest" version.

"Everyone knows how important it is to backup their files, but users often forget to do it or don't want to be bothered," said Germaine Ward, director of software development, Iomega Corporation. "With the launch of our new software, QuikSync, backing-up is effortless. QuikSync automatically saves a user's important working files, which helps alleviate stress if they are experiencing hard drive problems. It also offers protection against accidentally deleting files or against possible Y2K-related computer issues."

QuikSync software saves files to any Iomega disk without interrupting your work. Simply install QuikSync software, follow a simple set-up procedure and the software will take care of the rest. When a user saves a file to the Microsoft(R) Windows(R) "My Documents" folder (or another folder selected by the user), QuikSync software will transparently save the new revision onto an Iomega disk. At selected time increments, QuikSync will check the folder for new or changed files and copy them to the disk. If something goes wrong, restoring files is simple. Just open the designated Zip(R), Jaz or Clik! disk and open the file - no compression to worry about.

Computer users know they should backup their important files, but few rarely do. QuikSync quickly and easily synchronizes important files. It's a tool for people at home and in their business to save current revisions on important files such as: -- Taxes -- Banking information -- Versions of presentations -- Any file a user doesn't want to lose due to Y2K problems

QuikSync is the latest software solution from Iomega and is Y2K compliant. In September, Iomega and Symantec announced Norton(TM) Zip(R) Rescue (NZR(TM)). NZR software resolves common system problems such as Windows(R) 95 and 98-registry corruption, damaged system files, partition table damage and boot viruses or damage. In the event of a system failure where the PC won't boot up, NZR allows Iomega Zip and Jaz drive owners to perform system recovery quickly and easily, while preserving the unique system settings and configurations of their computers.
