STF701: Combining Filtering and ESD Protection

The new STF701 integrates TVS diodes with a low-pass, bi-directional EMI/RFI filter for combined ESD protection and filtering for two data lines. Used to protect sensitive circuitry at audio input and output interfaces, the STF701 is targeted for the manufacturers of cell phone handsets, "hands-free" accessories, external microphones, radio frequency (RF) communications equipment and laptop computers with audio interfaces.

Semtech used a proprietary thin-film-on-silicon process to become the first manufacturer to integrate both functions of the STF701 into the tiny SC-70 package. Like the SMFxx family, the resulting solution takes provides increased ESD protection and clamping The SMF05 and SMF12 TVS arrays are available now in a SC-70 5-lead package. Pricing is 32 cents per unit in 10,000-unit quantities. The STF701 is also available now in a SC-70 5-lead package. Pricing for the STF701 is 31 cents per unit in 10,000-unit quantities.
