Planet Polymer Technologies Inc. Announces New Board Member

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 19, 1999--

Planet Polymer Technologies Inc., ("Planet") a specialty chemical company, (Nasdaq:POLY), announced today that Dennis J. LaHood has been elected as a member of the Board of Directors. This addition brings the total number of Directors to six.

LaHood currently is the President of Agway Inc.'s Country Products Group. LaHood joined Agway in 1969 and has held various management positions including chief information officer and director and president of Country Foods Inc. He has been in his current position since 1995. Agway Inc. purchased 1,000,000 shares of Planet's common stock in January, 1999 and is currently funding research.

Planet's Chief Executive Officer, Robert J. Petcavich, states, "We are looking forward to having Mr. LaHood participate on our Board to support and advise us in the advancement and commercialization efforts into the agrotechnology marketplace."

Agway Inc. headquartered in Syracuse, N.Y., is a 1.6 billion dollar agricultural cooperative owned by 75,000 farmer-members. Agway's Country Products Group is involved in fresh produce distribution, sunflower processing, specialty pastry flour, dry edible beans, and pet food. Agway's other businesses include agricultural supplies, energy products, yard and garden products, lease financing, and insurance.

Planet also announces that it has received notice that the patent application for its AQUAMIM(TM) metal injection molding feedstock has been allonvolve risks and uncertainties, including the risk that the company is dependent on key personnel, and on its ability to continue to attract, retain and motivate highly skilled board members, as well as other risks detailed from time to time in Planet Polymer's SEC reports, including the report on Form 10-KSB for the year ended Dec. 31, 1998.
