Business Wire, April 21, 1999
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 21, 1999--
Sonic Solutions (Nasdaq:SNIC) and Iomega announced today at the National Association of Broadcasters Convention (NAB) that the two firms are working together to bring DVD content to removable media users worldwide.
Sonic's newly announced DVDit! application will output DVD-Video content in 1 GB and 2 GB sizes for Jaz playback on DVD-equipped PCs.
"DVD delivers a level of interactivity and video quality that revolutionizes multimedia presentations on the PC," said Stephen DiFranco, director of Product Marketing -- Professional Products Group with Iomega. "Iomega is excited to be working with Sonic Solutions, a recognized leader in DVD authoring, to enable Iomega customers to create DVD content."
To create a DVD title with DVDit!, users capture and edit video using their personal computer, then drag-and-drop edited video sequences, audio clips, graphics, backgrounds, and buttons into DVDit!; build their interactive DVD with a single mouse click; and write it to Iomega's recordable media. The final DVD content can be played back on any DVD-equipped PC.
"DVD-Video content is feature-rich and high in quality but requires significant disk storage space," said Mark Ely, director of Product Marketing at Sonic Solutions.
"It's clear that Jaz is a very natural media for DVD. Working with Iomega, Sonic has qualified Jaz media for both DVD-Video production and DVD-Video playback on PCs, providing users with a very cost-effective and convenient storage solution."
