Metrowerks, Inc., (Nasdaq: MTWK) (TSE: MWK) a leading provider of software development tools for desktop and embedded systems, today announced that Dell Computer Corporation has selected CodeWarrior Analysis Tools (CATS) for Dell's worldwide Application Solution Centers. CATS is a suite of easy-to-use code analysis tools that spot bottlenecks and untested bytes in code, and tune application performance.

The Dell Application Solution Centers (ASC), which were opened in June of 1998, provide proof-of-concept, tuning, and porting validation resources for Dell's enterprise customers and independent software vendors who want to optimize applications on current and future Dell systems. The ASCs are using CATS to help customers and independent software vendors tune their application software for maximum performance on Dell PowerEdge(R) servers, Precision(TM) workstations, OptiPlex(R) PCs and Latitude(R) notebook computers.

About CodeWarrior Analysis Tools

CATS includes a graphical hierarchical profiler and a graphical code coverage tool. The profiler tool analyzes the amount of time spent running each line of code and displays code execution in a variety of graphical display formats. The code coverage tool analyzes code execution to determine which parts and paths of the program have been executed, a critical task for ensuring code quality. Metrowerks CATS supports instrumentation of both Microsoft Visual C 4.2 through 6.0 and Metrowerks CodeWarrior Professional (Release 4) binaries for Intel's x86 and Pentium-class processors or AMD's K6 and K6-2 with 3DNow! processors.
