G. Edward McClammy Appointed CFO Of Varian, Inc.; Newly Formed Scientific Instruments and Vacuum Technologies Company

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Varian, Inc. (NASDAQ: VARI), the newly formed scientific instruments and vacuum technologies company, today announced the appointment of G. Edward McClammy as vice president and chief financial officer.
"Ed McClammy brings more than 20 years of corporate financial management experience to Varian, Inc. His broad expertise in accounting, corporate finance, treasury, and investor relations will certainly prove invaluable to our new company," said Allen J. Lauer, president and CEO of Varian, Inc.
McClammy joins Varian, Inc. after five years with Quantum Corp. While at Quantum, he held a number of key management positions, including vice president, finance and treasurer. He also served as acting CFO during a portion of 1996.
From 1987 to 1993 he worked for Lucky Stores, Inc., first as corporate financial accounting manager before moving on to become vice president, controller for the company. He also worked for 10 years in the high-technology practice at the San Jose, California office of Price Waterhouse and two years at the Financial Accounting Standards Board.
McClammy, 50, is a Certified Public Accountant and earned a bachelor's degree in economics and a master's degree in accounting and finance from the University of Virginia.
