Business Wire, April 27, 1999
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 27, 1999--
CommandView Message Inspector is First E-mail Filtering Product to
offer the Linguistic Expertise of The Oxford University Press(tm)
Elron Software announced today the release of CommandView Message Inspector(tm) -- an intelligent content security solution for e-mail, newsgroups, and FTP messages. CommandView Message Inspector helps organizations minimize the risks associated with electronic communication in the workplace. These risks include legal liability from offensive messages, loss of confidential or sensitive information, and performance degradation of the network due to congestion from SPAM and excessive use of attachments.
Utilizing two distinct algorithms - Adaptive Relevant Ranking(tm) (AR2) and Dynamic Co-Location Dictionary(tm) -- Message Inspector can filter content based on the actual context of the message in order to effectively manage, filter, and if necessary block company electronic communications. In addition to its patent pending Full-Text filtering technologies, Elron Software has partnered with a world renowned language expert in the Oxford University Press(tm). This partnership provides Message Inspector with the entries and contextual definitions of offensive language as defined by the Oxford English Dictionary(tm). Message Inspector is the only content security product on the market that offers context sensitive filtering techniques in the form of Lexical analysis and Full-Text filtering in order to produce a much more accurate result than simple key word or string matching technologies.
"Organizations have embraced the Internet to enhance the level of communication between their employees, customers, business partners, and the public," said Kelly Haggerty, Elron Software Product Manager. "Message Inspector is a management tool for organizations to ensure that when employees use the Internet to communicate electronically, these communications don't contain confidential information, or offensive, harassing, or otherwise libelous messages."
At the Social Law Library (Boston, MA), Automation Director Bernard Piccione recently installed CommandView Message Inspector. Concerned not only about the liability and confidentially issues, Piccione also wanted to minimize the amount of unsolicited e-mail entering the network. "Getting rid of unnecessary e-mail helps free up bandwidth and server disk space," said Piccione. "There is just so much unsolicited, garbage e-mail out there that can clog up your network. With Message Inspector, it was easy to establish rules, policies, and filtering profiles," said Piccione.
