New Development Environment Launched for Staffware Workflow Engine; Staffware Enterprise Objects - Accelerating Workflow Application Development
Business Wire, April 5, 1999
BEDFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 5, 1999--Staffware Corporation, the leading vendor of workflow technology, has launched a new Component Object Model (COM) Enterprise Integration toolkit to further increase customers choice for integration capabilities and client deployment already offered by the company's market leading workflow products.
The new toolkit - Staffware Enterprise Objects or SEO - exposes the entire Staffware engine functionality and data set through comprehensive and intuitive COM and Java based object models. These extended capabilities enhance integration and information management by making it faster to process-enable legacy and new business applications and deliver the benefits of workflow across the enterprise and beyond.
Aimed at corporate developers and independent software vendors, SEO provides an unrivalled set of workflow objects to develop integrated applications.
SEO delivers the power of Staffware to virtually any client environment including Visual Basic, Oracle Forms, Java and HTML and can be used to create client applications that access and manipulate Staffware data. SEO allows all client functionality to be server based, enabling client independence.
Jon Pyke, Staffware's Chief Technical Officer said, "Our goal is to expose all the functionality of the Staffware server through a comprehensive and easy to use object interface, making the functionality of the workflow engine available to a wide range of application development audiences on all of the supported platforms. It was also designed to simplify the development process by decoupling the database underpinning Staffware technology."
Mr. Pyke went on to say "SEO allows developers to integrate the world class, production workflow technology from Staffware into their mission critical, line of business applications. Organizations can then realize rapid return on their investment through the proven benefits Staffware delivers."
The application toolkit provides an Object based (COM and Java) interface to the Staffware workflow engine, providing ease of use to workflow developers. SEO is the ideal environment for users requiring tight integration of business applications with data and process logic in the Staffware environment.
From the developers point of view SEO enables production workflow to fully integrate and interact with a wide range of COM and Java based applications for the first time, including a number of ERP and EAI (Enterprise Application Integration) systems. SEO will enable developers to easily process-enable business applications by incorporating the robust and scalable Staffware workflow engine.
Furthermore, by separating the workflow engine from the Staffware work queues and forms, developers can customize applications to deliver their own look and feel. It also means that customers can completely embed the Staffware engine within their own line of business applications.
For end users this easily enables workflow to form an integral part of a company's IT infrastructure. This enables organizations to derive the full benefits of workflow by automating all business rules across the enterprise whether a user interacts with the process or not.
James Watson Jr, analyst at Doculabs stated, "Staffware's innovation will be to increase integrator productivity by offering a tool for accelerated workflow application development. For the developer who is workflow-enabling line-of-business applications, Staffware has introduced a tool that raises the bar for workflow integration."
