PG&E Energy Trading Names Valenti Vice President, Chief Information Officer

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 5, 1999--PG&E Energy Trading-Gas Corporation ("PG&E Energy Trading"), a subsidiary of PG&E Corporation (NYSE:PCG) (PG&E Corp.) today announced the appointment of Daniel A. Valenti to the position of vice president, chief information officer. He will report to PG&E Energy Trading's president and chief executive officer, Lyn Maddox.

Valenti joins PG&E Energy Trading from ING Barings Financial Services Inc. where as chief information officer for the Americas region he was responsible for strategic investment in technology across North and South America. His responsibilities also included technology architecture, application development, technology infrastructure, and major program initiatives, including Euro and Year 2000 readiness. Before joining Barings in 1997, Valenti was a managing director with Bankers Trust Company from 1993-1997 with responsibility for application development and implementation of Global Trust and Securities Processing systems. From 1987-1992, he was the principal owner of an independent consulting firm concentrating on automation solutions for financial institutions. Valenti began his career as a staff attorney with Texaco Inc.

Valenti holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Illinois, a Juris Doctorate from The College of William and Mary in Virginia and a Bachelor of Science degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
