Unisys Aquanta Servers Set New Record for PeopleSoft Performance on Windows NT; City of Tallahassee to Deploy Record-Breaking Solution
Business Wire, August 16, 1999
BLUE BELL, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 16, 1999--
Solution will lower costs and enable intranet transactions for
City of Tallahassee
Unisys Corporation today announced results of benchmark tests in which Unisys servers supported the largest number of concurrent PeopleSoft users ever recorded in a Microsoft Windows NT operating environment.
The tests measured the performance of PeopleSoft HRMS 7.5 and Financials 7.5 software with Oracle8 database on the Unisys Aquanta ES2045 Windows NT-based 4-way servers. The City of Tallahassee, Florida, will implement this record-setting solution to streamline administration, lower operating costs and enhance services to employees and citizens.
In the benchmark measuring performance of servers running PeopleSoft HRMS 7.5, the Unisys Aquanta ES2045 supported 8200 concurrent users with an update and retrieval time of less than three seconds, the response time required by PeopleSoft for test results certification.
In a second benchmark measuring the performance of the server running PeopleSoft Financials 7.5, the Aquanta ES2045 supported 2200 concurrent users within the specified response time.
PeopleSoft developed the test scripts, established parameters for qualifying results and certified the benchmark results.
"The Aquanta ES2000 and ES5000 servers demonstrate Unisys skills where predictable scalability and performance are essential to getting maximum business value from PeopleSoft solutions," said Marc Stillman, vice president of PeopleSoft's Alliance Solution Center.
"What is especially compelling is the outstanding performance benchmarks recorded by Unisys, a persuasive indication of the extent to which Windows NT-based PeopleSoft solutions can penetrate the enterprise."
The City of Tallahassee needed to replace its mainframe-based applications to reduce costs, satisfy Year 2000 readiness requirements and acquire more sophisticated financial analysis capabilities. By switching to PeopleSoft HRMS 7.5 running on its Aquanta ES2045 servers, The City of Tallahassee expects to save over $5,000 per month.
Departments currently using the PeopleSoft solutions include information systems services, finance and human resources. Eventually the solution's time management function will interface to departments managing the city's gas and electric utilities. When all PeopleSoft HRMS modules are in production the solution will be used by over 100 city employees.
The city is combining the comprehensive management capabilities of PeopleSoft HRMS with web technology, to let decision makers manage files, view statistics and run reports over the city's intranet. This will allow people to examine the most up-to-date data extensively before making decisions on how to implement key programs.
