Classified Advertising Accounts for 38% of Online Newspaper Traffic, E&P Survey Reveals
Business Wire, August 16, 1999
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 16, 1999--
Of 63,000 online newspaper readers, 38% cited online classifieds as their target destination, ranking just below national news at 39%, in a recent study by The Editor & Publisher Company.
"Newspapers without classified advertising online are missing a lucrative opportunity," said Marsha Stoltman, VP Marketing Relations/Research at E&P. However, Stoltman also noted that newspapers publishing classifieds online have yet to figure out how to make significant amounts of money from these ventures.
E&P's Online Classifieds Industry Symposium, September 12-14 examines business models for turning these opportunities into profits. Symposium details available at www.mediainfo.com, or by calling 212/675-4380, ext. 503.
