Business Wire, August 18, 1999
PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 18, 1999--
Transend(R) Corporation today announced the immediate availability of ConnectorWare(TM) 3.2 MAPI Service for cc:Mail, a service that enables Microsoft's new Outlook 2000 and earlier versions of Outlook to be used with cc:Mail LAN and Mobile post offices.
Version 3.2 has been optimized for Outlook 2000 and incorporates feature enhancements, improved performance and simplified installation.
Transend's cc:Mail service installs directly into Outlook, enabling it to send and receive mail through cc:Mail DB6 & DB8 post offices as well as cc:Mail Mobile. It also enables the use of the cc:Mail online corporate address directory from within Outlook.
To help users convert from cc:Mail to Outlook, Transend ConnectorWare 3.2 includes tools for importing cc:Mail messages and addresses. cc:Mail Folders and Bulletin Boards are imported directly into Outlook folders, while cc:Mail Address Books and Distribution Lists are imported directly into the Outlook Contacts folder or Personal Address Book. Imported addresses are automatically converted to a format that's compatible with cc:Mail, so there's no need to edit or retype addresses. Imported cc:Mail Bulletin Boards are kept current in Outlook via an automatic updating feature.
With ConnectorWare 3.2, Outlook advanced features are available through cc:Mail, including rules, task management, calendars, scheduling, meeting requests and message management. Version 3.2 is fully Y2K compliant, even with non-compliant cc:Mail DB6 post offices.
"ConnectorWare 3.2's simplified installation and enhanced import capabilities enable cc:Mail users to be up and running with Outlook 2000 and earlier versions in less than five minutes. And, all their cc:Mail personal addresses and stored e-mails (including attachments) will be in Outlook just as if they've been using it for years," said Fred Krefetz, president of Transend Corporation.
Transend's ConnectorWare MAPI Service for cc:Mail was originally released in 1994 and is used by hundreds of thousands of users in large and small organizations throughout the world, including: The Hartford, Pfizer, EDS, Stream International, GE Aircraft Engines, CSC, The British Council, Disney World, P & O Cruises, Harper Collins Publishers and Symantec.
According to Eben Vischer of Transamerica Corp, "Transend's ConnectorWare for cc:Mail has performed flawlessly, and in particular it opened up the beauty and effectiveness of Outlook in our cc:Mail environment. Outlook is a totally delightful product, breathing a breath of elegance and freshness into a stale cc:Mail-dominated world."

Licensed users of Transend's previous versions can purchase the upgrade for as low as $7.60 per user until October 1, 1999. First time licenses can be purchased for as low as $19 per user.
