Business Wire, August 2, 1999
HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 2, 1999--
Vietnam's Premier Bank to Update Operations for Next Millennium
Unisys Corporation and Vietnam's Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) signed an information technology contract to implement Open Solutions Inc.(R)'s (OSI) flagship software suite, The Complete Banking Solution(R) (TCBS), an advanced software system to modernize ACB's retail banking system.
ACB will be able to focus on efficient customer service, provide a wider range of banking products and services, and better manage its portfolio of deposits, loans and risks.
Under an exclusive resale agreement with OSI, Unisys will provide the retail banking software, TCBS, which operates under Windows NT(R). Unisys is the system integrator and prime contractor, partnering with Thien Nam Corporation and other vendors such as OSI, Microsoft, Oracle(R). A Pacific Asian version of OSI's TCBS is in development for the banking requirements of Vietnam as well as the addition of major modules for Off-line, Statutory Reporting and incorporation of Vietnamese language requirements into the TCBS banking system.
Mr. Le Vu Ky, vice president of ACB, said, "The goal of the ACB project is to implement an integrated banking system called Unisys-TCBS-ACB, based on an open architecture with flexibility, scalability and Y2K compliance. The system provides ACB with online real-time processing through the wide area network from head office to the branches with high security and reliability. The system sets the foundation for ACB to support new products and services to better serve the customers."
"Through our Unisys partnership, OSI can provide banking solutions that will take ACB into the next millennium, " said Mike Nicastro, vice president of OSI. "This alliance with Unisys allows OSI to offer one of Vietnam's premier banks a state-of-the-art banking solution, providing them with an end-to-end client/server solution that is designed to be flexible, reduce costs, retain customers and generate revenue through superior banking service."
With eight consultants on-site, finalization of the analysis phase ends August 1, 1999.
