HP Unveils New Intel Celeron- and Pentium-Based Servers, Business and Consumer PC Lines; New Graphics Capabilities Announced Across PC Workstation Platform

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 2, 1999--
Hewlett-Packard Company today announced that it has integrated the latest Intel(R) Celeron(TM) 500MHz and Pentium(TM) III 600MHz processors across the full range of its Intel-based HP Pavilion home PCs, HP Vectra corporate PCs, HP Kayak PC Workstations and HP NetServer PC systems.
The new models are slated to begin shipping later this month. Today's announcement reflects HP's commitment to providing customers with the simplest-to-use and highest-performing Intel-based PCs and servers.
In addition, HP announced new graphics offerings across its full line of HP Kayak PC Workstations. The Matrox Millenium G400 with 16MB of video memory includes dual-head display capabilities, which allow a single AGP card to support two separate displays. The Millenium G400's offerings also include a DualHead Clone mode, enabling secondary display to duplicate or show a mirrored image of the primary display and Multi-Play mode, enabling the user to run separate applications on multiple monitors or view multiple screens of the same application.
HP will support Intel's latest Pentium III and Celeron processors, providing customers with cutting-edge performance, reliability, manageability and security that is priced as low as $899(1) (U.S.). The new models include the following configurations: -0-
-- The HP NetServer LPr system with up to two Pentium III 600MHz
processors, space-efficient 2U form factor, up to 1GB memory
capacity with registered ECC SDRAM and memory scrubbing, and
four 32-bit PCI expansion slots is expected to be available for
an estimated U.S. street price of $ 4,230(1).
-- The HP NetServer LH 3 system with up to two Pentium III 600MHz
processors, up to 1GB ECC SDRAM with memory scrubbing, hot-swap
power supplies and fans, and integrated dual-channel HP NetRAID
controller with I2O is expected to be available for an estimated
U.S. street price of $5,130(1).
-- The HP NetServer E 60 system with up to two Pentium III 600MHz
processors, SDRAM memory upgradeable to 1GB, six available
expansion I/O slots, and integrated dual-channel Ultra-wide SCSI
controller. The system's price not yet available.
-- The HP Vectra VLi8 desktop PC with Pentium III 600MHz processor,
64MB SDRAM, 13.5GB hard drive, 32X CD-ROM drive, Matrox G200
graphics card and Windows NT(R). The system's price not yet
available.
-- The HP Vectra VEi7 desktop PC with Celeron 500MHz processor,
32MB SDRAM, 4.3GB hard drive, CD-ROM drive, sound card and
Windows(R)95 is expected to be available for an estimated U.S.
street price of $899(1).
-- The HP Kayak XU PC Workstation minitower with Pentium III 600MHz
processor, 128MB SDRAM, 9.1GB SCSI hard-disk drive (with
10,000rpm) Matrox Millenium G400 graphics, 32X CD-ROM drive,
Windows NT 4.0 and dual-processing capabilities is expected to
be available for an estimated U.S. street price of $3,509(1).
-- The HP Pavilion 8590C multimedia PC with Pentium III 600MHz
processor, 128MB SDRAM, 27GB hard drive, internal HP CD-Writer
Plus, 6x DVD-ROM drive, 8MB video RAM, 56Kbps fax/data modem
with V.90 technology, Polk Audio stereo speakers and a one-touch
multimedia keyboard is expected to be available for an estimated
U .S. street price of $2,299(1).
-- The HP Pavilion 8560C multimedia PC with Celeron 500MHz
processor, 96MB SDRAM, 12.7GB hard drive, internal HP CD-Writer
Plus, 56Kbps fax/data modem with V.90 technology, Polk Audio
stereo speakers and a one-touch multimedia keyboard is expected
to be available for an estimated U.S. street price of $1,099(1).
