Continuing to provide customers with the latest technology advances, Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE:CPQ), the market share leader in standards-based servers, today announced its plans to upgrade both its Compaq ProLiant and Prosignia server lines with the most powerful Intel chip to date, the Pentium III 600 MHz processor. By incorporating next-generation, Pentium III technology into ProLiant and Prosignia servers, Compaq continues to demonstrate its ability to deliver greater performance and improved database and web-server capabilities for demanding workgroup, departmental, and data center computing environments as well as the small and medium-sized business.

Additionally, Compaq plans to offer option kits for the ProLiant and Prosignia server families so customers can easily upgrade their current servers to Pentium III 600MHz technology.

Both the ProLiant and Prosignia server lines and option kits will be made available during third quarter 1999. Pricing will be announced upon product availability.
