NEC Computer Systems Division Announces Availability of the PowerMate Series of Desktop Computers With Intel's Pentium III 600MHz Processors

NEC Computer Systems Division (NEC CSD) today announced that its PowerMate series of desktop PCs now integrates Intel's newly-announced Pentium III 600MHz processor, the fastest Pentium III processor available.
This latest development establishes PowerMate as a stable platform for the last three generations. Pricing for a NEC PowerMate ES 5200 PC featuring a 600MHz Pentium III processor, 4.3GB(2) hard drive, 32MB RAM, 4MB Video, 10/100 LAN and Windows(R) 98 begins at $1,599.(3) The PowerMate VT 300 PC with a 600MHz Pentium III processor, 4.3GB hard drive, 32MB, 40X max variable-speed CD-ROM(1), 4MB Video and Windows(R) 98 is available for approximately $1,549.(3)

The PowerMate ES 5200
The PowerMate ES (Enterprise Solution) Series offers a flexible computing solution that is designed for the networked environment and is tuned by using proven technologies that can make it simple for IT professionals to manage large-scale rollouts and help ensure comprehensive compatibility among different configurations. NEC's PowerMate ES 5200 Series leverages a single scaleable motherboard across three chassis form factors (slim desktop, desktop, and minitower) to provide a simplified enterprise-wide solution. These chassis incorporate an easily upgradeable and serviceable NLX board design and have ergonomic features such as front panel volume control and USB connectivity.
The design also features an easily removable chassis cover, slide out system boards and convenient access to peripherals. These manageability features can be a factor in helping to lower the total cost of ownership to your system. Advanced management is ensured by integrated Ethernet networking and LANDesk(R) Client Manager software from Intel Corporation. In addition, NEC's MagicEye(TM) technology provides on-board hardware monitoring of temperature and system health, as well as fault detection and prevention features. -0-

NEC PowerMate UltraCare Service
NEC CSD was one of the first personal computer manufacturers in the industry to offer an innovative, comprehensive service and support program. NEC CSD's highly acclaimed UltraCare(R) Service offers a standard, three-year limited warranty(5) on all parts, labor and technical support. In addition, upon registration, the customer receives one year of UltraCare Service, NEC CSD's enhanced warranty service program for free on-site service(6). For the second and third years, customers may obtain for an additional fee service at authorized service centers. Upgrades are available for up to five years. In the United States and Canada, UltraCare Service includes a toll-free hot line to request on-site service 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
