Surge Announces Reason for Termination of Merger Discussions With Orbit Networks

DEER PARK, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 24, 1999--
Surge Components, Inc. (NASDAQ:SRGE) today announced that Surge stopped all discussion with Orbit Networks because of Orbit's inability to meet the terms and conditions under the merger agreement, originally required by Surge to reasonably assure shareholder value.
Surge allowed Orbit to have numerous extensions, but it became apparent last week that Orbit would not be able to meet the terms of the merger in the near future.
Surge is actively seeking merger candidates to enhance shareholder value and is currently evaluating some possibilities.
