SAN FRANCISCO--(BW HealthWire)--Aug. 26, 1999--
adam.com (Nasdaq:ADAM), the leading source for online medical and health information, announced that its award-winning content is now featured on 18 Cox Interactive Media (CIMedia) portal sites, and will be incorporated into the remaining CIMedia sites in the coming months.
adam.com and CIMedia announced entering into a strategic alliance in May 1999 under which CIMedia will feature adam.com's health and medical content on CIMedia's network of sites. CIMedia, a subsidiary of Cox Enterprises, Inc., delivers portal Web sites featuring locally-oriented content in more than 29 markets across the United States. Under the alliance, adam.com will provide consumer-oriented medical content for all CIMedia sites.
"We are pleased to have the majority of CIMedia sites up and running with adam.com's comprehensive health and medical content and the remaining sites coming online shortly," said Robert S. Cramer, Jr., adam.com's chairman and chief executive officer. "Our alliance with Cox Interactive Media allows us to distribute important health information to a larger audience while introducing thousands of Internet users a day to the adam.com brand."
Peter Winter, president of CIMedia, commented, "Including adam.com content on CIMedia sites increases the overall benefit to our users by providing easy access to the most comprehensive health and medical information on the Web. adam.com's interactive, multimedia approach to presenting healthcare information adds value to our portals and aids our users in finding fast, easy to understand answers to their healthcare questions."
Cramer added: "Our goal is to provide seamlessly integrated medical and health content for an expanding base of Internet and media partners, and further solidify our position as the leading provider of consumer health information on the Web."
Under terms of the alliance, adam.com will also develop content specifically for CIMedia's local markets, to be co-branded with the local site name and adam.com. In addition, promotional online banner advertising will be used by each participating site, and all advertising inventory from the co-branded portions of the sites will be shared by CIMedia and adam.com.
