HDAC Recruits Veteran EDA Sales Executive to Take Company to the Next Level

Business Wire, August 27, 1999

ALAMEDA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 27, 1999--

HDAC, Inc., a leading provider of advanced design verification technology, today announced that Rick Carlson, a high-profile 20 year veteran of the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) industry, is joining the company as Vice President of Sales.

Mr. Carlson will report directly to Ramin Hojati, President of HDAC.

Carlson comes to HDAC from Synplicity, where he was Vice President of Worldwide Sales. Before joining Synplicity, Carlson was a co-founder and VP of Sales of Escalade. Carlson has also held sales management positions with EDA Systems, Daisy Systems and Mentor Graphics. Carlson also was co-founder of EDAC, the EDA industry trade organization.

"The growing complexity of ASICs and programmable parts means functional verification is the nightmare that keeps design managers up at night. Designers are creating ASICs that can't be completely verified in a reasonable time with the talent and computing resources they have available," said Rick Carlson, Vice President of Sales. "As a result of the gap between what can be designed and what can be verified, achieving a functionally stable design is difficult and involves many iterations. HDAC's advanced verification solution, Solidify, holds the promise to significantly reduce this gap."

"Rick has made a clear mark on the EDA industry, with his extraordinary vision and keen insight into sales methodologies," said Dr. Ramin Hojati, founder of HDAC. "We couldn't ask for a more experienced executive to help make our unique, high-value design verification technology a success."
