Business Wire, August 3, 1999
PARSIPPANY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 3, 1999--
CIO magazine has named Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation (COLDWELL BANKER(R)) a 1999 CIO Web Business 50/50 winner for its online business excellence (www.coldwellbanker.com).
Each year CIO magazine recognizes 50 Internet and 50 intranet/extranet sites that go beyond customary Web commerce practices to deliver outstanding business value. The third annual CIO award program distinguishes organizations around the world that have taken a distinct approach toward the use of the Internet or intranet in their business. Complete coverage of the 1999 CIO Web Business 50/50 Awards is featured in the July 1, 1999 issue of CIO and at www.cio.com.
"This year's winners show that more and more operational capability, direct customer contact and bottom-line business value is migrating to the Web. It's impossible to ignore the depth of the transformation that's occurring in enterprises of every shape and size," says CIO Editorial Director Lew McCreary. Winners are selected by a panel of CIO magazine editors, writers, art designers and Web development experts. The panel of judges evaluates hundreds of nominated sites for their ability to use innovative Web techniques to deliver greater business value. In particular, the panel focuses on finding sites that successfully integrate creative design and high quality technical attributes. The judges measure how well the blend of technology and design contributes to the organization's overall business objective as well as the sites' ability to meet the needs of the target audience.
COLDWELL BANKER was one of the first national real estate companies to launch a national web site. The company's site also offers Personal Retriever, a free service that eliminates the need for consumers to hunt for listings. Instead, it automatically searches and "fetches" and advises a consumer via email about property listings, interest rate data and comparable home sale information based on the consumer's criteria. Introduced in 1995, the web site is one of the most comprehensive and current in the industry and features virtual home tours, a mortgage calculator, extensive neighborhood information and special property selections including Previews(R) for upper-tier homes, Military Best, Resort Property Network for vacation and second homes, New Construction, Military and University housing.
COLDWELL BANKER Online includes over 90% of COLDWELL BANKER office inventory consistently online and attracts over 6.5 million hits and approximately one million user sessions monthly viewing over 7 million pages.
"The growth of the Internet has made a positive impact on the business of selling real estate. Consumers have so much more information at their availability, but it is important that it is easy and complete enough to make it valuable to them," said Alex Perriello, President & CEO of Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation. "Our goal in designing this site was to provide our customers and our sales associates with a great interactive communication tool and to provide prospective buyers and sellers with the most useful and complete information possible. Being recognized by this prestigious award is an honor and reconfirms that our Internet efforts are on target."
For more than 90 years the COLDWELL BANKER organization has been the country's premier full-service provider of real estate services. Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation, a subsidiary of Cendant Corporation (NYSE: CD), franchises nearly 3,000 independently owned and operated real estate offices with more than 70,000 sales associates throughout the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean, Central America, Israel, Mexico, and Singapore.
