Dick Moeller, Chair AEA Austin, Appointed to AEA National Board of Directors

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 3, 1999--

Today the American Electronics Association (AEA) announced that Dick Moeller, Chairman, VTEL Corporation and Chair of the Austin Chapter of the AEA has been appointed to the AEA National Board of Directors as an at-large board member.

AEA's national board is comprised of the Chairs and Vice-Chairs of all 18 AEA local councils as well as at-large members. As a member driven association, the AEA national board meets three times a year to provide AEA with leadership and direction on a variety of issues important to AEA members.

Moeller has served for two years as Chair of the Austin Chapter and has been instrumental in increasing AEA's visibility, grassroots efforts and supporting local members. Under his leadership, AEA Austin has established a local high school scholarship program, increased local program offerings and established close working relationships with local elected officials. F.H. (Dick) Moeller joined VTEL as Chief Executive Officer, President and Director in October 1989 and became Chairman of the Board in March 1992. Moeller has lead VTEL's development from a start-up videoconferencing company in 1989, through its IPO in 1992, to its current position as the leading supplier of Digital Visual Communications products and services. With annual revenue of more than $160 million, VTEL serves customers globally in over 55 countries. In 1992 and 1998, he was selected by Ernst and Young's as an Entrepreneur of the Year finalist for his contributions to VTEL.

In October, 1998, Moeller joined SSM Ventures as a partner, investing in emerging growth companies. Moeller specializes in communications, internet and software opportunities. SSM Ventures, with offices in Austin and Memphis, manages approximately $150 million.

From May 1982 to October 1989, Mr. Moeller served as the founder and president of ProfitMaster Computer Systems, Inc., a software firm specializing in real-time financial management systems for point-of-sale applications. Prior to founding ProfitMaster, Moeller spent 12 years with Texas Instruments during which he held a variety of P&L, marketing, strategic, product planning and manufacturing positions.

Moeller is active in his community and church, serving on a number of board positions at the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, Austin Software Council, Austin chapter of the American Electronics Association, the Association for Corporate Growth and Triumphant Love Lutheran Church.

Mr. Moeller holds an MBA from Harvard University and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington.
