Fujitsu Announces i-Flow for Sun Solaris; Java-Based Process and Workflow Automation Engine Targeted at ISVs and SIs
Business Wire, August 3, 1999
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 3, 1999--
Fujitsu(R) Software Corporation announced today the general availability of its flagship process automation development platform, Fujitsu i-Flow(TM), on Sun Solaris(TM) 7.
The first complete workflow product specifically designed for Web-centric environments, i-Flow was written from the ground up using Java(TM) (Java Applets and JavaBeans(TM)) and JavaScript(TM). i-Flow's open architecture for embedding workflow into Web-centric applications allows ISVs (Independent Software Vendors) to focus on their core competencies while bringing their software to market faster. For SIs (Systems Integrators), it provides front-office to back-office application integration support, allowing better and easier deployment of their applications with existing enterprise IT systems.
"The Solaris 7 operating environment and Fujitsu's i-Flow software provide a solid foundation for ISVs and systems integrators developing and deploying Web-based process automation applications," said Brian Croll, senior director of Solaris Software at Sun Microsystems. "The inherent reliability and scalability of Solaris combined with its fast Java performance make Solaris the best choice for developers looking to maximize the potential of i-Flow in mission-critical environments."
Now supporting both Oracle 8.0 and Microsoft SQL 7.0, i-Flow offers software developers and systems integrators a fully interoperable workflow engine, a robust set of clients and APIs and a suite of pre-built Adapter Objects to accommodate third-party products -- all in one complete software solution.
"i-Flow is a software developer's best friend," said Michael Drapp, director of marketing and sales at Fujitsu Software Corporation. "It allows the developer to quickly add workflow functionality to their applications, which means they can immediately start delivering comprehensive, Web-centric applications, like e-commerce, to their clients. i-Flow's architecture allows complete flexibility and gives developers access to the full functionality of the server via Java."
Componentized architecture
Fujitsu's i-Flow contains all the components necessary to workflow-enable applications:
-0-
-- An openly architected, Java-based, robust and scalable workflow
engine designed for distributed environments and capable of
handling sequential, parallel and conditional tasks;
-- Integration Adapters to accommodate third-party document
management systems, directory services, databases and scripting
languages;
-- Five fully functional browser-based clients which provide a
variety of features, including graphical process definition,
various levels of participation, HTML-based form generation, and
system administration -- all of which are fully customizable in
most JavaBean compliant builder tools;
-- A comprehensive SDK containing a full set of APIs, which provides
complete server and client level functionality, source code,
instructions and examples for modifying or creating Integration
Adapters and browser-based clients.
