Einar Rod Is Named Vice President, General Counsel, And Corporate Secretary at Axel Johnson

STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 31, 1999--
Einar "Ed" M. Rod, 47, has been appointed vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary of Axel Johnson Inc., a diversified company with more than $1 billion in sales in 1998. The announcement was made by Lawrence D. Milligan, acting president and chief executive, to whom he reports.
"We are pleased that Ed Rod has joined Axel Johnson," Milligan said. "Ed is an outstanding leader who brings us proven expertise in the corporate legal arena. He is well-qualified to serve in all aspects of our company's legal function."
Before joining Axel Johnson, Rod was vice president and general counsel to First Brands Corporation, a NYSE-listed consumer products company that was recently acquired by The Clorox Company. From 1982 to 1996, he held several positions of increasing responsibility within the legal department of PepsiCo Inc. Rod began his career as an associate with Haight, Gardner, Poor & Havens in New York City.
Rod earned both his JD and BS degrees from Fordham University. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Corporate Bar Association of Westchester and Fairfield, Inc. Rod resides with his family in Newtown, Conn.
