Sega Dreamcast Video Game Tour to Mobilize Millions of Consumers With Demos, Game Competition; Sega Partners with IGN.com to Introduce Sega Dreamcast to the Masses

Business Wire, August 9, 1999

To date, 200,000 U.S. consumers have pre-ordered the Sega Dreamcast video game console.

Sega Dreamcast is the most advanced video game system ever developed, with a central processing unit four times faster than the Intel Pentium II in processing 3D graphics - the cornerstone of advanced video games. Microsoft, NEC, Hitachi and Yamaha have developed technology that is optimized specifically for high-performance, high-speed 3D gaming on the new console. Sega Dreamcast is the first console to offer Internet access and network gaming capabilities via a 56K modem and an Internet Service Provider (ISP) agreement with AT&T WorldNet(R) Service. The new Sega console is also the first to offer compatibility between a home console and arcade machines and a host of new gaming experiences with the handheld, portable Visual Memory Unit (VMU). Sega Dreamcast will retail for $199.99 in the United States.

Sega of America is the arm of Tokyo, Japan-based Sega Enterprises, Ltd. responsible for the development, marketing and distribution of Sega video game systems and video games in the Americas. Sega Enterprises, Ltd. is a nearly $2.5 billion company recognized as the industry leader in interactive digital entertainment media, and is the only company that offers interactive entertainment experiences both inside and outside the home. Sega of America's World Wide Web site is located at http://www.sega.com.
