SpartaCom Inc. Announces Availability of RAS and Modem Management Solutions for HP's Business Communications Server
Business Wire, Dec 16, 1999
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 16, 1999--
SpartaCom(R) Inc. (www.spartacom.com ) today announced the compatibility of its Modem Pooling for Windows NT (MPNT) and Accounting and Control for Microsoft RAS (Acctrol) software with Hewlett-Packard Company's Business Communications Server (BCS) platform. The HP BCS is a complete converged computer telephony solution for small- to medium-size businesses and remote offices of larger organizations. The HP BCS is built using HP's highly reliable NT server as a foundation, making it the ideal platform for deployment of customer management, telephony and data applications.
By combining SpartaCom software with HP's server platform, users get one complete product that serves two purposes. Information technology administrators can build a comprehensive Windows NT-based remote access server to both share modems and maintain control over Microsoft RAS, the most widely used service for remote access.
MPNT software allows administrators to manage the sharing of outbound modems among multiple users. Administrators can set specific parameters, such as connection duration and time-of-day limits, to control outgoing communication costs. Acctrol provides the ability to allocate inbound modem resources among multiple users, enabling administrators to oversee accounting and control capabilities for Microsoft RAS. Other Acctrol features include the prevention of simultaneous logins of the same account and network protection through IP filtering with static IP addresses. Reporting and statistical tools are also provided for both applications.
The HP Business Communications Server provides a reliable, integrated voice and data communications platform. This platform combines telephony and voicemail capabilities with a fully-functional server that can address the business applications and Internet needs of the small- to medium-size business. The voice-over-IP option makes it an ideal solution for remote or satellite offices of larger organizations.
"SpartaCom's MPNT and Acctrol software combined with HP's Business Communications Server provides businesses with a powerful and reliable solution for controlling NT communications, allowing companies to conserve costs and operate more efficiently," said Dominique Le Roux, president of SpartaCom Inc. "We are pleased to partner with HP and are confident that HP's Business Communications Server is an ideal solution for managing communications needs."
"HP and SpartaCom's relationship is another milestone in HP's ongoing strategy to enable the development of services that work seamlessly on both voice and data networks," said Dan Abouav, general manager of HP's Business Communications Solutions Operation. "The HP BCS solution is simple to purchase, operate and manage, and provides a high level of functionality to this market space. We are aligned to provide the global services and industry-leading solutions for a heightened competitive advantage for our customers."
