Terian Technologies is giving away free computers with Red Hat Linux as the desktop operating system. Terian Technologies, the white box division of computer distributor Jones Business Systems (JBSi), is giving away the free computers to qualified VARs and resellers who complete a short questionnaire at http://www.terian.com.
"Linux is rapidly becoming a real competitor on desktop systems," said Bruce Parsons, executive vice president for JBSi. "Desktop systems with Red Hat Linux and Internet software and database products from Informix and Pick Systems are a powerful and expandable platforms for users at all levels."
Thousands of resellers have already registered on the Terian web site at http://www.terian.com since the free computer offer was first announced on Dec. 7. The free computer promotion expires on Dec. 31, 1999.
"The response to our promotion has been outstanding," said Parsons. "But we want even more resellers to receive these free Terian computer systems. Our Intel-based, Red Hat Certified family of Terian Servers and Desktops are white box products every VAR should know about."
The free computers are equipped with 400 MHz Celeron processors, 64 MB RAM, 6.4 GB hard disk, 40x CD-ROM drives and Intel 2D/3D video in a mid-tower case. Software pre-loaded includes Red Hat Linux 6.1, Netscape Navigator, StarOffice 5.1a, Informix Foundation 2000, and Pick Systems D3 Linux.
