Little Black Dress and Internet Make a Perfect Fit
Business Wire, Dec 2, 1999
CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 2, 1999--
In March of 1999, with everything in her closet being too long, too short, or too busy, Georgina Curran went shopping for "a little black dress, above the knee, with no adornments." She found nothing. Thinking she was probably not the only frustrated woman in search of a classic little black dress, her husband encouraged her to design and market her own dress. Georgina shared the idea with her sister-in-law, Petra Vester, and together they started a business.
Georgina and Petra's initial steps were to conduct research. "Results showed that e-commerce is booming, and as more women are shopping on-line, they want sites that offer simplicity, service and convenience. We thought that if we had a central location where little black dresses could be sold, it would provide convenience for the customer," Georgina explained. "The obvious central location for us is the internet."
This month, President Georgina Curran and Vice-President Petra Vester introduce their new company and website, "LBDtogo.com."
Upon the website launch, LBDtogo.com will feature two styles, the Classic and the Allure. "The Classic has all of the elements that have survived the changes in style and fashion," Petra explained. "It's perfect for every occasion and is designed to fit most women from size 6 to 14."
"The name says it all for our second dress." The Allure is a fitted sleeveless dress made of satin-backed crepe. "We have lowered the neckline and raised the hemline to create this sexy yet elegant look."
The Classic and Allure will be just the first two of many black dresses. Future designs to follow will include the Prima, the Maternity, the Traveler, the Weekender, and the Elite.
The website will also feature fashion tips, demonstrating different ways to wear and accessorize the LBDtogo.com designs. Prices of the dresses will vary between $65 and $200 and include free 2nd day shipping and handling costs. Gift packaging is also available for $5.50 per dress. For more information on LBDtogo.com, visit the website at www.LBDtogo.com or call Georgina Curran or Petra Vester at (513) 965-8139.
