ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 2, 1999--
MediaHawk(TM) Will Add Streaming Video Capabilities
to Intranet Systems
Concurrent Computer Corporation (NASDAQ:CCUR) announced today that RPC Video Inc., Kansas City Audio-Visual (KCAV), and Principal Communication, Inc. have joined the broad list of Concurrent VARs. By incorporating the MediaHawk Intranet Video Server into the networks that they design and install, each of these VARs will now be able to provide end-to-end Video-On-Demand (VOD) solutions.
Concurrent's MediaHawk Video Server delivers true interactive VOD over a variety of networks for Intranet education, training, and presentation applications. A high-performance, scalable, digital video server, MediaHawk supports from tens to thousands of MPEG1 or MPEG2 digital video streams on ASI, Ethernet, ATM, and baseband networks. Users are able to select, play, stop, and pause on each digital video stream independently with prompt and predictable response times. MediaHawk offers industry-leading performance at the lowest cost per stream and provides the most reliable response time achievable in the marketplace today.
RPC Video Adds MediaHawk to Its Innovative Digital Video Systems
RPC Video provides a turnkey approach that integrates design, service, and training for multimedia systems. Specializing in distance learning, multimedia retrieval systems, and nonlinear editing, RPC Video has been a pioneer in the use of video technology since 1966 when it marketed the first helical scan video recorders. Well known for its Mobile Distance Learning Cart, RPC has developed distance learning systems for Kent State University; Cleveland Clinic; the Quaker Valley, Fox Chapel and Keystone Oaks School Districts; and the Alleghany I.U. Learning Community Network. The interactive DVD presentation system that it developed for the
Pittsburgh Pirates was instrumental in the rapid sell-out of private VIP suites at the new PNC Park. The company maintains offices in Verona and Palmyra, Pennsylvania, and Middleburg Heights, Ohio.
"Long-term customer satisfaction has been a major factor in our success for the past thirty years," said Sam Liptak, President, RPC Video. "With its reliability and high video quality, MediaHawk represents a cost-effective total solution to our customers' VOD requirements. MediaHawk will enable us to continue our tradition of providing the best and most affordable technology available to our markets."
Kansas City Audio-Visual Remains on the Cutting Edge of
Audio-Visual Resources
For over 48 years, KCAV (Kansas City Audio Visual, Inc.) has provided the business, education, government, and religious markets with the most state-of-the-art audio-visual technology available. Now KCAV is taking its solutions to the next level by offering VOD delivered by Concurrent's MediaHawk Video Server. KCAV offers comprehensive services, including: design, installation and support for communications systems; equipment and system service and repair; product sales from over 200+ manufacturers; and equipment rental.
"Our solutions are client-driven," explained Jerrold D. Bernard, VP Sales and Marketing KCAV. "We pride ourselves on our ability to select the technology that provides the most comprehensive and appropriate solution to the client's particular application needs. Uses for VOD are almost unlimited, so the MediaHawk will enable us to broaden our market penetration at the same time that we increase our market depth."
Principal Communication Is Emerging as the Canadian Leader in
Instructional Technology
Principal Communication Inc. is a dynamic young company that has become THE Canadian industry leader in the emerging field of Instructional Technology. Founded in 1991, Principal's success results from featuring an end-to-end technology-based, curriculum-focused learning program.
One representative project is the Mitchell Woods Public School in Guelph, Ontario, where Principal Communication was recently involved in the design, installation, training and support of essential internal communication devices. By providing the Technology Master Plan and integration of voice, video, and data through enhanced teaching tools such as interactive VOD (Media Hawk, VCRs, DVD players and the Internet), Principal enables teachers to increase student interaction, which results in increased retention.

Educational institutions will greatly benefit by this capability."
Concurrent Computer Corporation Predicts Abundance of New Uses
for VOD
"MediaHawk is generating a tremendous amount of excitement among present and prospective VARs," asserted Steve Nussrallah, President of Concurrent. "We are pleased to add resellers such as RPC, Principal, and KCAV, who are known for providing high-quality products and excellent long-term customer service, to our roster. We are receiving inquiries from other prospective VARS at an unprecedented rate, and I am confident that the numerous emerging uses for VOD will eventually position it as an integral component of 21st century education, business, research, and medicine."
