Stephen P. Kaufman, CEO of Arrow Electronics, Elected To Harris Board of Directors

MELBOURNE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 3, 1999--

Stephen P. Kaufman, chairman and chief executive officer of Arrow Electronics, Inc., today was elected to the board of directors of Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS). The election expands the Harris board to nine directors.

Mr. Kaufman joined the Melville, New York, based Arrow as president of the company's Electronics Distribution Division in 1982. He was appointed president and chief operating officer of the corporation in 1985, chief executive officer in 1986, and chairman in 1994. With annual sales of $8.3 billion, Arrow Electronics is the world's largest distributor of electronic components, systems and related products to original equipment manufacturers of semiconductor products and computer products and peripherals.

Prior to joining Arrow, Mr. Kaufman served in executive capacities with Midland-Ross Corporation. Previously, he was associated for ten years with McKinsey and Company, management consultants, where he was a partner from 1976 to 1980.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Master's degree in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School. He is director of the Polaroid Corporation and serves on the board of trustees for Long Island University.
