Pretec Electronics Corp., the leading digital imaging provider, will preview a new model of digital multimedia equipment which combines the functions of digital still camera, USB PC camera, MP3 music player, and Voice recorder in one palm-sized unit, named DC-530, at Ramada Vacation Suite by appointment only during Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held here on Jan. 6 - 9, 2000.

This four (4) function multimedia personal productivity tool and entertainment system -- in one compact size -- ushers in the era of "Personal Digital Appliance" (PDA). With just two AA batteries, hundreds of pictures can be taken, or hours of MP3 music can be played. DC-530 is an excellent personal multimedia companion for almost any family and anyone in modern society who requires low cost, multiple-function, and easy mobility for their work and daily life.

With 640X480 resolution and excellent quality image processing, DC-530 comes with built-in optical viewfinder, 2-way flash, automatic exposure, self-timer, B/W LCD indicator, stereo sound, and earphone output. The connectivity capabilities are impressive, including RS-232, USB, video output through NTSC and PAL.

Media storages are through CF+ slot (CompactFlash Type II), which can take more than 5000 pictures in VGA mode, or store more than five (5) hours of MP3 music using Pretec 320MB CF card or IBM Microdrive, the smallest hard disk in the world (www.ibm.com/storage/ microdrive).

The appearance of DC-530 looks similar to its predecessor, DC-520, which is a dual functions digital still camera and USB PC camera, now on sale at America Online (AOL) and other leading OEM partners through various brand names. Golden and silver models work with Windows 98 through USB with video frame rate of 15 fps.

Transparent or translucent models with various colors will be available by January 2000, which works both for Window 98 and iMac. DC-530 will start sampling by Q1/2000, pricing for OEM volume quantity will be under $99 (CompactFlash cards are extra).
