iPortal Application Server to Provide a Unified Solution for the

Java Business (SM) Conference, IONA(R) Technologies (NASDAQ:IONA) today announced planned support for Sun Microsystems, Inc.'s Java(TM) 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) in the IONA iPortal Application Server(TM), a component of the IONA iPortal Suite(TM). IONA iPortal Suite is the industry's first multi-platform portfolio of products to address the problems associated with developing, deploying and managing the specific class of eBusiness applications commonly referred to as enterprise portals. With support for J2EE, IONA iPortal Application Server consolidates the best of Web and enterprise Java technologies for enterprise business systems.

Availability

The IONA iPortal Application Server beta release is available today on the IONA website at www.iona.com. The IONA iPortal Application Server will be ready for general availability (GA) in Q1 2000 as a compliant J2EE product.
