Business Wire, Dec 7, 1999
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 7, 1999--
Fujitsu Limited today announced planned support for Sun Microsystems, Inc.'s Java(TM) 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition in the Fujitsu INTERSTAGE Application Server.
This edition of the Java 2 platform is a unified platform for the development, management, and deployment of enterprise-class software in today's diverse corporate environments. The Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) simplifies complex enterprise solutions. Sun's announcement of the availability of the J2EE was made today during the Java Business(SM) conference in New York.
"This edition of the Java 2 platform is a huge step forward for the Java software community. Its platform-independent architecture provides a strong, secure engine for ecommerce and ensures freedom of choice for customers," said Masahiko Fujita, General Manager, Application Server Software Division, Fujitsu Software Group. "We are really excited about the release of J2EE and look forward to incorporating it into the development of our products and technologies, such as INTERSTAGE, our widely acclaimed Application Server product."
"Fujitsu recognizes the real value that the Java platform, particularly the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition, brings to businesses: simplicity, scalability, and choice," said George Paolini, vice president, Java Community Development, Sun Microsystems, Inc. "We are delighted to see Fujitsu underscore its commitment to the Java platform and to the advancement of Java technology."
Fujitsu's INTERSTAGE Application Server is based on the latest Java standards, and it was the first CORBA product to be awarded the X/Open CORBA brand mark. INTERSTAGE focuses on supporting distributed object transactional and mission-critical applications, and it includes support of four different language bindings, a Java platform-based multi-agent system, a message exchange service, interfaces to an object-oriented DBMS and interoperability with leading market EAI adapters.
Among J2EE's broad range of features, Enterprise JavaBeans(TM) technology is key to Fujitsu product directions and is currently incorporated into INTERSTAGE. Following completion of the J2EE compatibility testing, Fujitsu plans to obtain full J2EE branding for the INTERSTAGE product.
