Business Wire, Dec 8, 1999

BURLINGTON, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 8, 1999--

Burlington Chemical Company, Inc. announces the issuance of US Patent 5,984,977 "Post-Dye Screen Printing."

The issued patent describes the basis for the REHANCE(R) printing technology on cellulose fabrics, garments, and articles. Other patents are pending. REHANCE printed cotton fabrics and garments have a print area that breathes, with a soft handle, and is ironable. REHANCE also offers a new supply chain model that cuts weeks off time from design to production and delivery of graphically enhanced textile goods to the consumer market.

"We are pleased to have obtained our first US Patent for the invention and application of REHANCE printing. We believe that this technology promotes value and fulfills our goal of 'Continuous Improvement That Builds Sustainable Value' as described in our corporate vision statement. We also believe that this technology, together with the business models developed by the American Apparel Manufactures Association Quick Response Leadership Committee and the DAMA project at Textile Clothing Technology Corporation (TC)2, points the way for innovation and value in American produced printed apparel", states Michael R. Scott, President of Burlington Chemical.

Burlington Chemical Company is a Specialty Chemical manufacturing firm with a 50-year history of innovation for the US consumer products markets. Burco(R) chemistry can be found in textile, personal care, industrial cleaning and manufacturing, and domestic products.

Burlington Chemical Company, Inc., and the REHANCE Group of companies are actively soliciting customers and licensees for this patented technology.

REHANCE is a registered trademark along with a patented technology developed by Burlington Chemical Company and T.S. Designs, Inc. It is an environmentally-friendly water based printing chemistry that produces a breathable, no-hand print on 100% cotton and blended fabrics. The technology is printed and then dyed. This eliminates shrinkage as an issue to the consumer.

A consortium of allied companies has aligned themselves to promote this new technology and business model. A listing of these companies and their visionary customers are shown on the web site: http://www.rehance.com .
