The Salomon Brothers Fund Inc Declares Distribution

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--December 8, 1999--
The Board of Directors of The Salomon Brothers Fund Inc today declared the following distributions:
A distribution from net ordinary income of $.7204 per share consisting of $.0753 per share from net investment income and $.6451 from short term capital gains.
A distribution from long term capital gains of $2.0735
Stockholders desiring to reinvest their income dividends or capital gain distributions in shares of the Fund may do so through the Fund's Dividend Reinvestment Plan, by calling The Bank of New York, the Plan Agent, at 1-800-432-8224.
Both distributions are payable on December 23, 1999 to stockholders of record on December 14, 1999. The ex-dividend date is December 10, 1999.
