Burr-Brown Announces Isolated Differential Bus Transceiver for Industrial Data Communications

Business Wire, Feb 11, 1999

TUCSON, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 10, 1999--Burr-Brown Corporation (NASDAQ:BBRC) today announced the ISO422, a highly integrated, isolated differential bus transceiver for industrial data communications.

The ISO422 is designed for low cost point-to-point or multipoint high-speed data transfer in electrically noisy environments. It provides full- or half-duplex communication at up to 2.5Mbps over long distances with excellent noise performance. The ISO422 supports Fieldbus, RS-422, RS-485, and CANbus systems.

Applications include industrial networks, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), traffic and railroad signaling equipment, gas station pumps, automotive diagnostic equipment, point-of-sale terminals, and cellular base stations.

"The ISO422 is the most integrated isolated bus transceiver on the market," said Jim McGonigal, strategic marketing manager at Burr-Brown's European Components Division in Livingston, Scotland. "It offers significant benefits over existing solutions including reduced component count, increased reliability, smaller footprint, and enhanced functionality."

Features of the ISO422 include a continuous isolation rating of 1500Vrms, a loop-back test capability, and DC correct operation. DC correct operation ensures that the ISO422 provides correct output levels at power-up and corrects any errors caused by high voltage transient interruptions across the isolation barrier.

The ISO422 is priced from $6.00 in 1,000 piece quantities and packaged in a 24-pin single-wide PDIP (a 24-pin SMT package will be available in Q2'99). It is specified over the -40 degrees C to 85 degrees C temperature range. Delivery is from stock.
