High Street Banking Company To Help Supervise Funding of 20 Houses for Habitat for Humanity of Catawba Valley

HICKORY, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 15, 1999--High Street Banking Company is pleased to announce a $100,000 grant from the Affordable Housing Program (AHP) of the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) for the financing of 20 new houses with Habitat for Humanity of Catawba Valley.
High Street has been chosen to provide financial leadership and support to Habitat for Humanity of Catawba Valley, as they work toward developing these new housing units.
The application for the funds met with approval from the Federal Home Loan Bank, which is an organization which allocates federal loans through community partnerships. The AHP requires a company to partner with a non-profit or for-profit developer of affordable housing and work together toward a development project. The partnership plays a vital role in the success of the program.
Executive Vice-President Anne Martin, on behalf of High Street Banking Company, states, "Our goal is to be a positive force in the community, whether it be in the form of exceptional banking services or involvement in other areas, like Habitat for Humanity, which benefits our community."
Habitat for Humanity of Catawba Valley is a 14-year old, non-profit housing development organization that assists on projects for the Catawba County region. The first project development funded by the money from the FHLB is scheduled by the Habitat for Humanity to begin in Winter 1999.
