BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 17, 1999--Boca Research, Inc. (Nasdaq:BOCI) today announced the immediate availability of the TelePort(tm) Internal 56K Fax/Modem for new Apple(R) Power Macintosh(R) G3 minitowers. The TelePort Internal 56K Fax/Modem is a COM slot modem that fits into the modem port located on the motherboard. It is available at Apple distributors, retailers, and catalog outlets in the United States and Canada. The suggested retail price (SRP) for the TelePort Internal 56K Fax/Modem in North America is $139.

"We moved fast when Apple announced that the new G3 Power Macs would not be shipping with fax/modems," said Jim Nealon, director of hardware development, for Boca Research. "The design specifications of the hardware and software had already been qualified and proven with an internal COM slot modem we developed for the Macintosh G3 portable computers. We took those design specifications and modified them for Apple's new Power Macintosh G3 minitowers," Nealon concluded.

"We can always depend on the Global Village(tm) brand name when selling Macintosh computers," said Jack McPeek, Macintosh merchandise manager, Micro Center. "It's great to see how dedicated Boca Research is to the Macintosh platform by shipping an internal modem solution so quickly and efficiently. We're looking forward to selling significant qualities of these easy-to-install TelePort internal modems," McPeek concluded.
