LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 18, 1999--

Removable, Reusable MultiMediaCard Adds Still Image Capture

and Storage Capability to New JVC Digital Video Camera

SanDisk Corp. (Nasdaq:SNDK) announced today that it will supply JVC with MultiMediaCards to add still image capture and storage capability to the new GR-DVM70U Digital DualCam.

This announcement marks the first Digital Video Camera (DVC) to use the MultiMediaCard for capturing and storing still images. The announcement was made at the annual Photo Marketing Show (PMA -- Feb. 17-21) where SanDisk is demonstrating products in booth No. T-141.

"The DVC market, with still image capturing, is another potentially large market opportunity for our ultra-small MultiMediaCard," said Nelson Chan, vice president of marketing at SanDisk.

"We believe that this is the first of many DVCs that will include as a standard feature the capability to capture digital still images and record them on our MultiMediaCard. The SanDisk MultiMediaCard is rapidly becoming the universal digital storage media solution for several markets such as DVCs, Global Positioning Systems (GPS), MP3 players and smart phones."

Researchers at Dataquest, a leading market research firm in San Jose, recently compiled some preliminary data on the growing DVC market. According to the firm, 3.1 million DVCs were sold worldwide in 1998. Dataquest expects sales to reach 8.1 million units a year in 2002.

Jerry Barbera, general manager of JVC Company of America's Consumer Video Division, said, "We chose SanDisk's MultiMediaCard for its ruggedness, small size and high capacity. With the 4MB MultiMediaCard, included with our new Digital DualCam, the user can store up to 100 digital still images.

"Using the postage stamp sized MultiMediaCard, still images can be transferred from the digital video tape allowing consumers to make albums which includes their favorite still images and access those images at random. The images can also be played back on a television as a digital slide show."

The GR-DV70U Digital DualCam with 4MB MultiMediaCard will be available in April with a MSRP of $1,699. JVC will also sell SanDisk's 8MB MultiMediaCard as an upgrade accessory for $64.

SanDisk Corp., the world's largest supplier of flash data storage products, designs, manufactures and markets industry-standard, solid-state data, digital imaging and audio storage products using its patented, high density flash memory and controller technology.
