Business Wire, Feb 19, 1999
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 19, 1999--Synopsys (Nasdaq:SNPS) CEO and Chairman of the Board Aart de Geus was recently named as an IEEE Fellow by the board of directors and Fellow committee of the organization.
The official presentation of the honor, which recognizes de Geus "for leadership in developing and commercializing logic synthesis technology," will take place in New Orleans at this year's Design Automation Conference.
"I'm honored to be elected to this position and to be in the company of so many accomplished members of the IEEE," said de Geus. "I'd also like to share this honor with the many Synopsys employees over the years who have helped develop and expand synthesis technology to encompass all facets of system-on-a-chip design."
Election to the grade of IEEE Fellow is an important element of the IEEE's objective to recognize excellence among its members in the advancement of the theory and practice of electrical and electronics engineering. The IEEE's annual Fellow elections single out Senior Members who may come from any field, including academia, government and industry. Whatever their careers, candidates must have made an outstanding contribution to the electrical and electronics engineering profession.
