Business Wire, Feb 22, 1999
SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 22, 1999--
--Specialist in RF/microwave silicon power transistors adds to
credentials with compliance to internationally
recognized quality standard--
GHz Technology, Inc., a leading supplier of power transistors for RF and microwave applications, today announced that its design and manufacturing facility in Santa Clara, California has been granted ISO 9001 certification effective immediately. ISO 9001 is an internationally recognized standard for quality assurance in operations with design, manufacturing, installation and service. The National Standards Association of Ireland (NSAI) assessed GHz Technology's quality management systems, verified compliance with ISO standards and served as the accredited registrar.
"By providing a set of standards crossing many languages and cultures, ISO certification is becoming indispensable in today's global marketplace," said Frank Schneider, President and CEO. "We are fortunate to have been able to complete the entire registration process in just eight months and feel this speaks highly for the emphasis we have always placed on `quality first' throughout our company culture."
ISO 9001 is one of five ISO 9000 standards established in 1987 by the International Standards Organization which is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland and made up of several hundred member countries. ISO requires a management process that meets ISO standards and encourages continuous improvement applicable to all types of industries. The ISO 9001 standard is specific to operations that design as well as produce, install and service a product.
GHz Technology's certification covers its entire 20,000-square-foot facility in Santa Clara, California. Product design, wafer fabrication, die fabrication, assembly, test and applications engineering are all performed on site, allowing GHz to maintain tight control of processes and schedules.
"The truth is that customers in every industry know it's a smart idea to work with suppliers who are able to meet rigorous ISO standards because soon, their customers could dictate ISO 9000 compliance several levels down the supply chain," said Schneider. "ISO serves as a kind of `quality-speak' throughout the business world."
