SOUTHBORO, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 23, 1999--The CLARiiON(R) Advanced Storage Division of Data General Corporation today announced support of Dell Computer Corporation's new centralized storage consolidation and back-up solution for the Microsoft Windows NT environment.
CLARiiON supplies Fibre Channel technology for Dell's high-end PowerVault(TM) 650F storage systems. Fibre Channel is a key underlying technology for Storage Area Networks (SANs). CLARiiON disk arrays exploit Fibre Channel technology, delivering both high data throughput and high I/O performance. "As the supplier of Fibre Channel storage to Dell, we are pleased to participate in this announcement. We believe that bringing PowerVault SAN to Windows NT will facilitate the broad deployment of storage area networks and greatly enhance Dell's capabilities in meeting the needs of enterprise customers."
"Through our alliance with Data General's CLARiiON Advanced Storage Division, the leader in Fibre Channel RAID storage, and other best-of-breed hardware and software vendors, Dell is able to deliver industry-leading SAN solutions to our customers," said Kevin Reinis, director of PowerVault marketing for Dell's Enterprise Systems Group.
