NAVCO Security Systems Acquires American Cable and Communication; Move Spawns a New Breed of Security System and Information Technology Integration

Business Wire, Feb 4, 1999

ANAHEIM, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 4, 1999--

Both companies to enjoy strengthened capabilities and rapid

growth

NAVCO Security Systems, the nation's largest privately held security products manufacturer and security systems integrator, Thursday announced the acquisition of American Cabling & Communications Inc. (ACC), a fast-growing computer network integrator with headquarters in Orange, Calif.

NAVCO Chief Executive Officer Dr. Richard Groves has appointed James Clark as ACC's new president and chief operations officer to run ACC as an independent subsidiary of NAVCO. Clark, a 14 year employee and senior executive of NAVCO, supervised the acquisition from its earliest beginnings.

"I searched for a business that would compliment NAVCO's core security systems business as well as provide us with growth opportunities apart from our industry. ACC happened to be the ideal candidate. In fact, ACC enjoyed an incredible growth last year with revenue just over $6 million. NAVCO's current blue chip grade client base and national sales force offers a fast track for explosive growth for both ACC's network business and NAVCO's security systems," said Clark.

Dr. Richard Groves agreed adding, "Like everything, the security business is going digital. Security products and systems are increasingly converging with clients' computer networks and Internet applications. ACC's knowledge base, combined with NAVCO's, position both companies to lead their respective industries."

American Cabling & Communications was founded in 1986 by David Anderson. Current clients include a 250 unit sports club giant, and a large HMO with 650 remote locations. Anderson said, "I'm excited about the sale and believe NAVCO will take ACC to the next level. Our services certainly do compliment each other and technically, the merger will result in a blended hybrid of technologies unique to both our industries. The resulting product and serve offerings will be incredibly innovative and cutting-edge." Anderson will stay on with ACC as a consultant for the next four years.

Founded in 1972, NAVCO Security Systems is a privately held company specializing in the development, manufacture, installation and maintenance of security systems. Industries served include banking, retail, hospitality, entertainment, and commercial. American Cabling & Communications is a computer network integration firm specializing in all facets of digital technology for the business enterprise and is a wholly owned subsidiary of NAVCO Security Systems. Playing the game well is about defending your position, earning respect, exchanging favors, and keeping your sanity amid the chaos. To get started, you need to know what you really want from work, then orient your political moves toward those goals. It all starts with strong relationships and helping others; those people in return make up the support system that helps you realize your goals. Here’s how it’s done.
