Silicon Graphics Selects TGS 3D Tools for New Visual PC Workstations Based on Windows NT Operating System

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 11, 1999--TGS and Silicon Graphics (NYSE:SGI) today announced that a selection of TGS 3D desktop applications will be bundled with all new Silicon Graphics(R) Visual PC workstations.
The TGS software products include 3Space(R) Assistant, a 3D desktop viewer for Open Inventor(TM), VRML and AutoDesk(R) DXF files, and LiveWork(TM) 3D, a 3D add-on to Microsoft(R) Office. Both applications are tightly integrated with the new Cobalt(TM) graphics chip set developed by Silicon Graphics for the Silicon Graphics 320(TM) and Silicon Graphics 540(TM) Visual Workstations.

Embedded in ActiveX container applications, such as Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer(R), 3Space Assistant allows for integration of real time 3D models with technical documents and Internet applications.

LiveWork 3D from TGS is the first-ever real-time 3D add-on to Microsoft Office. Primarily targeted at Microsoft PowerPoint, LiveWork 3D allows the incorporation of 3D animations and models into PowerPoint(R) presentations. The add-on supports drag & drop authoring and allows for real-time interaction of 3D models even in slide show mode.
