CUPERTINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 11, 1999--
Antivirus is moving beyond the desktop -
Trend Micro and Interwork Technologies deliver a
`Top Down Approach' to the Canadian market
Trend Micro, the leading provider of centrally managed virus protection and content filtering products and services, and Interwork Technologies are pleased to announce the addition of Trend Micro's suite of server-based antivirus and content-filtering software for the enterprise to Interwork Technologies' portfolio. Interwork is a premier Canadian distributor for Trend Micro's award winning products.
Traditionally, virus protection has been tackled from the desktop up, a time-consuming and expensive endeavor requiring the constant vigilance of IS staff. This agreement enables Interwork to offer VARs, Systems Integrators and Resellers a lucrative opportunity to sell Trend's solutions, delivering virus and other malicious code and content protection from the top down with a range of second-generation solutions deployed through central servers directly to the desktop.
Trend Micro's integrated family of protection products covers every access point: Internet gateways, groupware, e-mail, Intranet servers, LAN servers, and desktops. InterScan(R) VirusWall(R), Trend's flagship second-generation, high-performance antivirus solution protects SMTP, HTTP, and FTP traffic. InterScan VirusWall established the gateway protection category and, despite imitators, is still the leader in this category today.
Most recently, in December 1998, Trend Micro announced their newest product - InterScan AppletTrap(TM) - which stops malicious Java applets, JavaScript, and ActiveX objects at the Internet gateway and solves the performance and management issues that have hindered competing approaches.
"We are very excited to offer Trend Micro's products to the Canadian channel," said Blair Baxter, president of Interwork Technologies. "Internet and virus security threats are increasingly hostile and complex. Organizations today are demanding products with an enterprise focus that can be easily and centrally managed. Interwork feels that Trend Micro's vision and product strategy will quickly position them as a Canadian leader in this market."
"We are extremely pleased to have Interwork Technologies as our Canadian value-added Distributor," said David Kimball, director of eastern region sales for Trend Micro. "Interwork's expertise in the connectivity, network management and security markets ideally positions them to aid in developing and supporting a very successful and profitable reseller channel in Canada."
